These are “The Way of life” quotes from the Great poet Bhartruhari. Bhartruhari lived long ago, so long ago that some of the passages in some Hindu scriptures are credited to him. It is amazing that what he said so long ago is valid today.

1. Ornaments do not actually beautify a person; neither do garlands as radiant as the moon. Nor again, does bathing or perfumes, or flowers, or groomed hair. Bearing a gift of distinguished language is the only thing that actually builds a human being. All other material always fades away; the gift of speech is the only thing that matters.

This Poem stresses on the gift of speech which does not hurt anyone, which gives good advice and is liked for it quality. Only people who have the inner beauty, (Peace, Contentment) have it. Physical aspect of beauty is secondary.

2. People reach prominence for the reason of their character, not because of a high position. Even if positioned at the peak of the fortress, a raven does not become an eagle.

People may be in high positions, but as far as respect goes, It is not the position which matters, it is character.

3. Folks who chatter a great deal are people who do no hard work. They are like clouds of the fall; they in reality only roar with thunder, however do not bestow any shower.

Discussing endlessly does not matter, what matters is work.

4. People are not supposed to be regretful about what is history, nor ought to be concerned a great deal regarding the future. The intelligent persons function by the current times.

Don’t worry, be happy. Money does not matter, Happiness does.

5. Consumption of liquor is a source for confusion of the psyche. Once the intelligence is confused people become involved in a sinful life. After this, the unwise individuals experience bad luck. For this reason liquor must not be drunk! Definitely should never be drunk!

6. The breeze turns out to be the buddy of flames that destroy forests by flames. The same wind quenches the same fire as in a lighted lamp. Who really has associates in times of disadvantage?

There no permanent friends. Faith in you lasts just till your luck holds. Then you are alone!

7. "Because the never-ending succession of dawn and sundown, life shortens; Occupied in everyday responsibilities, people fail to become aware of the passing of time! Anxiety is not felt at observing dawn of life, progress of existence, distress and as final point demise; oh, the humankind turn into drunks after consumption the wine of fantasy (Deception, Delusion)!"

People are so involved in survival, that they have no emotion for birth, travails of life and ultimately Death. (Take time, get involved, and let life not be Mechanical)

8. People with good character are believed to be a positive character everywhere in the world. As like a jewel appears stunning when worn everywhere on the body: on the head, in the neckline or on the limb.

People with character will be assets wherever they are, just as a diamond looks beautiful, wherever it is worn.

9. People who study, write, see, seek and exist in the friendship of cultured people, their intelligence spreads out like that of the lotus leaf does as of the rays of the sun touch it.

The company you keep does matter!

10. In one way or another sensible human is supposed to cause the fulfillment of somebody or the other; that itself is the adoration of God.

Help and Service is by itself is the worship of God.

11. As the rays of a rising Sun can descend on the peak of mountains. For those born with intellect, age is not a factor indeed! The age is not relevant for great deeds by the brilliant.

Work of the intelligent has no relation to their age. This is what makes them Brilliant.

12. As far as wealth is involved, it is not supposed to be stashed away. It ought to be donated or taken pleasure in and used up. Otherwise, just like the collection of bees is stolen by others, it will also be gone.

If you have the money, enjoy it and Donate! And use it up. Do not hoard it. You may never get to use it!
